Since 2021, The Moth and General Motors have worked together to bring storytelling to employees, the greater Detroit area, and beyond. General Motors has collectively sponsored more than 50 StorySLAMs, two (2) Mainstage shows as well as acted as the Presenting Sponsor of The Moth's Award-Winning Pop Up Porch Tour. In addition to their support as a sponsor, they have also worked with MothWorks at The Moth to bring storytelling workshops to their employees. 

This winning combination of storytelling within the corporation, the surrounding communities, and the country at large has proven quite successful in building positive brand resonance as well as employee loyalty. 


Sponsorship Timeline

2021 In our first year of partnership, General Motors sponsored select Moth StorySLAM shows in Detroit and Ann Arbor. They also sponsored The Moth Mainstage in Detroit and supported The Moth Podcast (listen to ad spot here) and The Moth Radio Hour. Additionally, they brought their first MothWorks storytelling workshops to their employees.   

2022 The following year, after great success in year one, General Motors came aboard as a season sponsor of The Moth StorySLAM in Detroit and select shows in Ann Arbor. They also committed to be our presenting sponsor for The Moth’s inaugural Pop Up Porch Tour. 

2023 In our third year of partnership, The Moth and General Motors continued our work together. In addition to supporting StorySLAM shows in Michigan, they also sponsored selected shows in Atlanta and were The Moth’s Auto Sponsor at our annual fundraising gala, The Moth Ball. 2023 was also the year that The Moth Pop Up Porch Tour came to General Motors’ hometown for our second annual tour where they continued to act as our Presenting Sponsor.

2024 Now, in 2024, General Motors is sponsoring twenty-five (25) StorySLAM shows between Detroit, Ann Arbor, Atlanta and our newest market, Kansas City. They are also sponsoring The Moth Mainstage where storytellers from The Moth Pop Up Porch Tour will bring their stories to the Motor City. And, for the fourth year in a row, they will bring more storytelling workshops to their employees with MothWorks at The Moth.
