Long-time Moth friend and storyteller Ed Gavagan’s day job is running his own design and build firm. One of his projects was creating The Moth offices. He has continued to refine our space to keep pace with our expanded needs as we have grown over the last two years. Some elements of The Moth headquarters were built in a workshop that Ed shared with a group of artisans in TriBeCa.

In early 2013, a 3-alarm fire destroyed those studios. While grateful that nobody was hurt in the blaze, the metalsmiths, woodworkers, furniture makers and designers who shared the spaces lost their materials, tools, equipment and numerous projects underway. In addition to losing their livelihoods, some of the craftsmen lost their living spaces as well. Even more importantly, the building is now condemned, so they will not be able to re-build together in that location.

Please join The Moth and the New York storytelling community for Nine Lives, a special show to raise money for Ed and the artisans of the Greenwich Street Studio, on Tuesday, March 26th, 2013 at Housing Works Bookstore Cafe in New York City with stories by Elna BakerSteve ZimmerAdam WadeJim O’Grady, many more of your Moth favorites, and hosted by Peter AgueroFind out more info here!
